About Sishen Mine
One of the largest open-pit iron ore mines in the world. Located in the Northern Cape of South Africa. Mining began in the 1950s on a vast iron formation. Produces around 40 million tonnes per year. Ore travels 860 km by rail to the port of Saldanha Bay. One of the flagship assets of the company Kumba.
