About Ranger Mine
One of the longest running uranium mines in the world. Operated from 1980 to 2021 surrounded by Kakadu National Park. The Mirarr traditional owners opposed the mine for decades. Their campaign stopped the nearby Jabiluka deposit from being mined. Pit mining has ended and a major rehabilitation is underway. Processing of stockpiled ore continued after mining stopped.
