About Oyu Tolgoi

One of the largest copper deposits in the world. Located in the Gobi Desert 80 km from the Chinese border. Discovered in 2001 after decades of exploration. Most of the ore lies deep underground and is mined by block caving. Commercial production began in 2013. A major driver of the Mongolian economy and one of the biggest mines on the continent.
