About Cobalt Camp
A silver boomtown named for the metal found in its ores. Discovered in 1903 during railway construction in northern Ontario. Veins were so rich that some ore shipped directly to refiners. The camp paid in silver while giving cobalt its name. Mining faded by the 1930s. The town survives on mining heritage tourism.
