About Red Dog Mine

One of the largest zinc mines in the world. Located above the Arctic Circle in northwest Alaska. Named after Red Dog Creek. Production began in 1989. A seasonal port operates only weeks per year when ice clears. Operated in partnership with the NANA regional corporation of the Inupiat people. Ore is among the richest zinc concentrates ever mined.
