About Cadia Mine
One of the largest gold deposits in Australia. The Cadia Hill open pit began production in 1998. Deep underground block caves followed beneath the pits. Produces several hundred thousand ounces of gold per year plus copper. The district was first mined during the 1850s gold rush. Now owned by Newmont.
